What is Transition Counseling?
February 11, 2019 2 Comments Blog rebecca@wildrosecaregivers.com

Life changes can happen quickly and more frequently than most of us are prepared for.  There are those expected changes, the ones that we are prepared for, and the large incremental changes.  Change is often met with fear and resistance.

Transition Counseling is one of our specialties here at Wild Rose.  That sudden unexpected life change can come up and you can be feeling very overwhelmed.  You probably have more choices than your realize.  Continuity rather than disruption.

As we age there is the looming fear of dementia.  “Aging in place” means to keep someone in their own home as long as possible.  With the right supports, this life transition can be made smoothly.  Elderly folks do much better in their own homes.  We tend to decline when we are not surrounded by familiarity as we get older.

The same goes for transitioning into adulthood.  The teenager with a disability still needs supports, but also needs independence from the parental home.  Do you hire your own caregiver/supports or do you hire a provider like Wild Rose.  Do you stay as guardian, do you have a public trustee, are they their own independent guardian?

We are able to provide you with all of those choices and help you make the ones that are right for you and your family.

What training does your employees have to work with people with disabilities? Are you government funded?

The training required depends on the individual that we serve. We are a privately owned company.
